How does self storage work?
DSD Self Storage offers modern self storage, we have a wide range of storage units with free 24 hour access and we have 24 hour manned CCTV on site.
What is included in the price - and are there any hidden extras?
The price you are quoted by our staff includes the cost of your storage unit per month including VAT. This price will be held if you reserve the unit. Your goods must be insured whilst in storage. The insurance is buyers responsibility.
Do I pay weekly or monthly?
We invoice customers for a full calendar month in advance for their unit.
How can I pay for my space?
We offer a number of payment options including credit card, debit card, which must be in the name of the person signing the storage contract. We do not accept cheque
How often can I access my space - and how much will it cost?
We offer free 24 hour access to the majority of our storage units, store staff will inform you before you book if your units has any restrictions on it, although this is rare
Do I have to pre-book a space?
It’s not necessary; you can complete your storage contract in store to move in immediately. However to be guaranteed a room of a specific size, and to hold the rate, we advise you to book in advance
Can I move in today?
Yes, you will need to contact us and bring along with you the following: proof of identity (a passport); proof of address (a utility bill); and any means of payment.
Can you help me with removals?
DSD Self Storage has links with local trusted removals companies and can help organise this for you. We have forklift available on site to help you move your goods.
Do I need a deposit?
We require a security deposit of a month’s rental (including VAT). The deposit is fully refundable when you exit your storage.
Deposits are only withheld if:
• you owe us money
• you have damaged the unit in any way
• you have left goods in your unit or elsewhere on the site
Can I transfer to another unit if needed?
You can move to another size room at any time, depending on your storage requirements (availability permitting). There is no charge for this.
How do I cancel?
We ask for fourteen (14) days notice when you vacate your space (in writing by e-mail or letter).
Can I hire a van?
We have a list of local van hire companies who offer discounts to our customers. Please contact us for more information.
Is there anything I can not store at DSD Self Storage?
As a guide, these are the only goods we are unable to store:
1. Living things such as animals and plants
2. Hazardous materials such as flammable liquids and explosives
3. Perishable items that could decompose such as organic foodstuffs and plants
4. Unauthorised or illegal goods such as drugs or firearms
5. As they are purely designed for use as storage, our rooms are not suitable for offices or work premises.
